PTT Philippines to open more retail stations in 2019

(L-R) PTT Philippines Marketing Director Thitiroj Rergsumran, PTT Philippines Corporation President & CEO Sukanya Seriyothin, and PTT Philippines Trading Corporation President & CEO Danny Alabado listen attentively to the questions from members of the media during the yearend edition of the “PTT Meets the Press”.

PTT Philippines Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Sukanya Seriyothin has disclosed that the Thai oil firm will raise its target number of new stations in 2019.

In a press briefing, Seriyothin said that they are eyeing to exceed next year the 30 new stations that were targeted in 2018 as part of the continuing expansion of the Thai oil firm in the Philippines.

“We have achieved our 30 new stations target for this year and we hope to raise this target in 2019. So, most likely, we have more than 30 new stations next year,” Ms. Seriyothin told reporters.

By end of 2018, PTT Philippines would have around 150 new stations in various parts of Luzon and the Visayas. Some of its newest stations are located in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Southern Luzon.

“We have been expanding slowly but surely,” Seriyothin said, “but definitely we are continuing our expansion mode not just here in Luzon but also in the Visayas.”

She disclosed that around P5-billion have been allocated for the expansion in the next five year, a budget that is being adjusted annually depending on the pace of the expansion.

Marketing Director Thitiroj Rergsumran, on the other hand, said that the opening of new Café Amazon stores is also part of the expansion.

“We are opening more Café Amazon stores in the Philippines inside and outside of the PTT gasoline stations,” he said, adding that the latest to open was the branch at the posh McKinley Hill in Taguig City.

Currently, seven Café Amazon stores are already operating, three of them are in Metro Manila (McKinley HIll, SM City North Edsa Annex, & PTT Edsa Munoz). The rest are located in PTT SCTEX (Tarlac), PTT Pulilan (Bulacan), PTT Dasmarinas (Cavite), and PTT Lubao (Pampanga).

“Soon, you will see more Café Amazon inside shopping malls and commercial centers particularly in Tagaytay and Batangas,” Rergsumran added.

The entry of the Thai-brand Café Amazon to the Philippine market was part of the business expansion of the diversifying PTT Thailand. Outside Thailand and the Philippines, the coffee shop chain has also branched out to other parts of the region, as well as in Japan and Oman.
